Miguel De Freitas, DFR Commercial’s licensee director, principal and co-founder, embodies a hands-on, honest and hardworking approach that has instilled a culture of ownership within the agency. His team is deeply invested in the care of every property, treating each property as its own. The agency’s dedicated team of commercial and industrial real estate specialists and seasoned property managers bring decades of experience. DFR Commercial’s journey began in 2001, when its co-founder Rod Ryan assumed leadership of one of Fremantle's prominent real estate agencies. The following year, De Freitas, an energetic up-and-comer from Sydney came on board, leading to a joint venture De Freitas & Ryan Property Consultants in 2007.

The duo worked hard in the early years, growing their business organically, supported by the highly successful 6PR advertising campaigns and the introduction of an innovative flat fee management structure. It revolutionized the industry by delivering enhanced convenience for property owners and staff. At its peak, the agency managed 2200 properties through five residential offices and a dedicated commercial wing.

In 2020, Ryan and De Freitas decided to streamline DFR Commercial’s operations, divesting all residential management responsibilities to RMA Australia. This shift allowed them to refocus their efforts on commercial sales and leasing, as well as residential sales

Tragically, DFR Commercial lost Ryan in May 2023 to a short but aggressive battle with cancer. With a career that lasted more than five decades, Ryan’s indomitable passion and dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Taking his legacy of excellence and visionary outlook forward, De Freitas leads the agency’s award-winning commercial office in Cockburn Central, Perth.
