This exclusive feature delves into Greer McLeod’s journey from a Senior Research Analyst in the Alternatives Capital Markets team to a client-facing Analyst in the Logistics & Industrial Brokerage team at Cushman & Wakefield. Greer shares valuable insights into the evolving industrial real estate landscape, highlighting key trends such as the rise of automation and its impact on supply chains. With a focus on continuous learning and seizing opportunities, McLeod offers expert advice on how professionals can navigate the complexities of the industrial sector while building a successful career.
Evolving Career Path and Industrial Sector Focus
I began my career at Cushman & Wakefield in the Alternatives Capital Markets team as a Senior Research Analyst, where I focused on delivering thought leadership and research to support transactions in the alternatives sector. I have since transitioned to the Logistics & Industrial Brokerage team as an Analyst, with a trajectory towards moving into agency.
I joined the Logistics & Industrial Brokerage team at the start of the year and have gained valuable experience in a highly client-facing role. I was drawn to the industrial sector to broaden my real estate expertise beyond research. What interests me most is understanding supply chains, distribution networks and how businesses operate.
As I’ve learned more, I’ve come to appreciate the sector’s critical role in supporting businesses across Australia. The rise of automation is also reshaping supply chains, driving demand for more efficient and innovative industrial spaces. I look forward to deepening my understanding as my career in Industrial develops.
Take on as many opportunities as you can, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and seek mentors across different areas of the industry
Industry Trends and Professional Development
I find many industrial sub-sectors intriguing. The evolution of retail and e-commerce is particularly interesting, especially how it’s shaping demand for warehousing and distribution.
I’m always learning more about high-tech manufacturing and production facilities, as advancements in automation and technology are transforming how these spaces operate.
Given the current economic climate, I anticipate continued demand for efficient supply chain solutions and innovative industrial spaces to support evolving needs.
Take on as many opportunities as you can, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and seek mentors across different areas of the industry. What has helped me the most is being proactive - putting myself forward, staying eager to learn and adapting to new challenges. Coming from a non-traditional real estate background, I knew I had to work hard and stay open to every opportunity to grow.
