A Diverse Leadership Background  

I have a diverse background in both the public and private sectors, with extensive experience in leadership roles. As the Acting Director of Economic Development for Raseborgs stad, I oversee one of the city’s core sectors, focusing on economic growth and employment. Leading a team of 60 professionals and managing a €12 million budget, I also play a key role in strategic planning and policy development as a member of the city’s executive team.

I am motivated by a deep belief in the transformative power of economic development, and my leadership philosophy centers around prioritizing people. I foster an inclusive, collaborative environment that drives long-term economic success. My approach to leadership is shaped by a strong commitment to individual growth and well-being, allowing innovation to thrive and communities to flourish.

My career journey has also given me an intricate understanding of the challenges businesses face. During my tenure at SSAB Europe Oy as a Quality and Environmental Manager, I saw firsthand the importance of sustainability and compliance. These experiences shaped my ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and build strategic partnerships—skills that are invaluable in my current role.

Leading Complex Reforms and Driving Innovation           

One of the most demanding initiatives I have led was Finland’s second-largest reform, transferring employment and economic services from the state to municipalities. This complex process required extensive coordination and stakeholder engagement. Through transparent communication and collaboration across government levels, I successfully steered the reform, significantly strengthening Raseborg’s local economic development capabilities.

Additionally, I spearheaded Raseborg’s forward-thinking economic program, introducing innovative strategies in business services, marketing, and public transport. By embracing technology and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, the program not only enhanced service delivery but also attracted new businesses, positioning Raseborg as a dynamic and future-oriented municipality.

Sustainability is at the heart of Raseborg’s economic development strategy, and I am committed to ensuring that local growth aligns with Finland’s broader environmental goals. I actively promote green technologies, support sustainable practices, and engage the community in environmental efforts. My goal is to drive economic growth that is both thriving and environmentally responsible.

Advice for Aspiring Professionals   

My advice to peers and emerging professionals is to stay curious and embrace learning. The field of economic development is constantly evolving, and building strong networks and diverse perspectives is key to success. Above all, I emphasize the importance of prioritizing people. Sustainable, meaningful economic growth is driven by the well-being and engagement of the community.
