Commercial property owners continue to face growing pressure to reduce emissions while supporting electric vehicle adoption across their portfolios. Charging infrastructure has become an important part of that transition, yet conventional installations often require lengthy permitting, utility coordination and construction work that can delay deployment.
A new collaboration between Solaflect Energy and Clear Blue Commercial illustrates an alternative approach at a commercial property in West Sacramento. The companies plan to install three Apollo off-grid EV charging units powered entirely by solar energy, providing charging capacity without requiring a connection to the electric grid. According to Solaflect, Apollo eliminates the need for trenching, utility extensions and other site construction typically associated with traditional charging infrastructure.

The project reflects Clear Blue Commercial's broader sustainability strategy for the property. The company stated that it previously completed a power purchase agreement supporting a 100,000-square-foot solar array and converted the site to LED lighting in 2020. Clear Blue Commercial reports those investments have diverted more than three million pounds of carbon emissions while generating energy cost savings exceeding $1 million. The addition of solar-powered EV charging extends those initiatives by supporting cleaner transportation for tenants and visitors.
Infrastructure remains one of the principal challenges surrounding wider electric vehicle adoption. The U.S. Department of Energy has estimated that nearly one charging port will be needed for every new electric vehicle entering service, placing greater emphasis on deployment models that can avoid construction bottlenecks. Solaflect positions Apollo as one response to that challenge through an off-grid system that uses dual-axis solar tracking technology. The company says the tracker produces 40 percent more energy than fixed solar panels and supports more than 60,000 miles of EV charging annually across four charging stations.
The announcement also coincides with Solaflect Energy's expansion in California. The company recently opened an office in the Coachella Valley and appointed Jason Keller as director of sales to support commercial real estate owners, municipalities and employers evaluating off-grid charging infrastructure for their properties.
